- Volatile ~ Non-Volatile
- Volatile memory: A temporary memory that loses its contents when the computer or hardware device loses power, memory storage type is not permanent.
SDRAM |
Example: RAM (EDO-RAM, SDRAM, DDRAM).
- Non-Volatile memory: A memory that keeps its contents even if the power is lost, storage in this type of memory is permanent.
Flash Memory |
Example: EPROM, EEPROM, Flash Memory.
2. Erasable ~ Non-Erasable
- Erasable memory: Can be remove or replaced by another content. Example: EPROM (Erasable Programmable = Read Only Memory) is removed with Ultra Violet rays, EEPROM (Electrically Erasable Programmable = Read Only Memory) is removed with an electric, FLASH Memory removed electroplate.
- Non-Erasable: Memory which can not be erased after the manufactured.
ROM |
Example: ROM (Read Only Memory), PROM (Programmable ROM).
